The title of the article reminds all of us of a very old saying -
HEALTH IS WEALTH.
Good health is a key to your wealth, happiness, sound mind and mental alertness and to almost everything around your world.
Good health helps you to achieve a high quality of life. Health Fitness makes you want to live life with joy on a daily basis.
According to W.H.O., “Health is the state of complete physical, mental, social well being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.”
In the present times, life has become very simple; everything you need is just a phone call away. This easy lifestyle has restricted human race to do that physical exercise which is necessary to keep your body fit and healthy. The consequence of these is that Health Fitness has become one of the major concerns.
Good Health Fitness requires adequate nutrition and physical activity. Negligence towards healthy dietary habits coupled with increased sedentary lifestyle leads to Obesity, diabetes, hypertension and various other health implications.
As per Indian Council of Medical Research Criterion, obesity for Indians is defined on the basis of B.M.I. (Body Mass Index) which is calculated from height and weight. It is the body weight (in Kg.) divided by the square of the height (in M).

Indian council of Medical Research has devised a Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDA) for Indians of energy, proteins, iron, calcium, and vitamin-A, Thiamine (Vitamin-B1), Vitamin- C and Vitamin – D. This can be used as a standard parameter for Health Fitness plans. However this needs to be modified as per the prevailing clinical and physiological conditions.
